Moonfruit, the no.1 hosted website builder in the UK acquired by Hibu in 2012, has brought its team together in a 15,000 sq ft suite at 50 Eastcastle Street in London’s West End. The move facilitated the consolidation with one of Hibu’s digital teams to deliver a creative digital hub in London. We conducted interviews with staff, especially important to enable Moonfruit and Hibu’s teams to come together under one roof in a unified space that would work for both. We then held operational and design workshops to ensure the design was functional and high quality.

Manage and build

The premises presented a number of challenges for our design team. There was poor light and technology infrastructure and air conditioning had fallen into disrepair. In its configuration, kitchens were small, teams were split and there was a lack of meeting areas, breakout zones and collaboration spaces. It wasn’t a Moonfruit office – yet! As a growing London based team of developers, creatives and entrepreneurs who are passionate about great design, the office interior design we created needed to be outstanding and distinctive. With close attention to finishes and materials, we’ve achieved a new home the team at Moonfruit can be proud of and enjoy.

The new space

The result is an eclectic, artisan space with subtle and sophisticated branding.

The kitchen teapoint has been relocated and redesigned, enhanced with feature lighting and materials including chipboard, timber effect vinyl and stained plywood. The dark, dreary atrium has been transformed using decking, AstroTurf, new doors and steps to make a usable outdoor space for staff. We removed the existing suspended ceiling in some areas to expose the services, creating an industrial feel.
