The certification process culminated in a 4-day audit conducted in November, where Oktra’s energy management practices were assessed.
Oktra’s journey to achieving the ISO 50001 certification involved setting up an energy management system tailored to not only monitor and manage energy consumption, but also to support our goal of reducing emissions by at least 5% annually.
ISO 50001 is recognised internationally as the benchmark for energy management systems, offering a structured framework for organisations to make a tangible difference in their energy use. This standard encourages businesses to adopt a systematic approach towards energy efficiency, ultimately leading to significant energy conservation and cost savings, while also contributing to global efforts to mitigate climate change.
ISO 50001 enables Oktra to manage and reduce energy costs and emissions. This standard aids in establishing energy use baselines, guiding businesses towards sustainability and decarbonisation goals.
This ISO certification is the fourth that Oktra has obtained.
• ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
• ISO 9001 – Quality Management
• ISO 45001 – Health & Safety
• ISO 50001 – Energy Management
