Dominic Dugan Announced as Creative Director at Oktra

Oktra is excited to announce the promotion of Dominic Dugan to Creative Director; a position that will support client relations, enrich the design process and improve communication across the business.

Following 10 years of traditional consultancy and 11 years in the design and build sector, Dom’s extensive experience working with Oktra’s client base has primed him for the role of Creative Director. Having partnered with clients at various stages of their workplace journey and produced designs for a rich variety of businesses, Dom is an expert in developing a client’s brief while ensuring the design stays true to their ultimate objectives. By following a process of interrogation, conversation and collaboration, Dom strives to understand the challenges they are facing and extract the key information that will shape a successful project.

We are currently in a period of transformation not only in the way we work, but the way we design our offices, and workplace wellbeing has become more pertinent than ever. Reflecting on the amount of time we spend at work, Dom believes that as designers, we have the ability to make a difference to people’s working lives through outstanding, informed design.

Dom will be working closely with clients during the early stages of their projects; helping to shape the overall workplace design and strategy. This early involvement will ensure that the design process and brief development are given the best possible start, ensuring Oktra deliver a solution which will bring maximum benefit to each client’s business.  This will allow Dominic to combine the best team within Oktra ahead of the first phase of the project.

Through forming lasting relationships with our clients, Dom will gain an in-depth understanding of their business, enabling Dom to act as an advocate for our clients, challenge our in-house designers and steer the creative direction of the design. The role will be key in improving communication across the studio and also giving individuals across design disciplines the opportunity to work with new people within Oktra.

When asked how he hopes to promote innovation at Oktra, Dugan shares that “I’d love to work with other design directors to pull the discipline closer together – to align our approach and learn from each other. Let’s push the boundaries of design and perform as a coordinated studio”.
