Students from the University of West London and ESNE Madrid visited Oktra’s London studio for the first session of a new initiative set up to transform creative education.
Hosted by Oktra Creative Director, Dominic Dugan and Professor of Design, Research and External Profile at the University of West London, Layton Reid, this was a segment of the students’ tour as they got to experience the role of design within different organisations.
As part of Oktra’s ongoing efforts to develop and inspire the next generation of designers, this initiative has been established to bring new perspectives to design education and bring young designers together.
The students visited Oktra’s London studio for a tour of the space as well as a session, led by Dominic Dugan, on performance led design and the importance of good communication in the design process. When asked about the initiative, Dominic said “I’ve known Layton for a long time, he was someone that helped me along my own design journey so this felt like a good opportunity to support him and the students. We had a great session and it was a lot of fun. They had loads of fresh ideas and perspectives which really helps frame up what we’re doing and why we’re doing it.”
