  • Innovating the workplace

Auto Trader relocated to Covent Garden to be closer to their network and to facilitate new ways of working. Auto Trader’s aim was to create an office environment that would attract staff and allow them to engage in an exciting and dynamic way.

  • Creating experiences

The design process involved examining Auto Trader’s existing office and designing a scheme to exceed that level of excitement by featuring high-quality environments and cutting-edge audio-visual experiences. For Auto Trader, it was key to create a memorable, immersive experience that represented their brand to everyone who entered their office. To support the various ways that the business operates, the office serves as an engagement tool to entertain both colleagues and guests.

  • Brand positioning

Auto Trader’s new office is a true reflection of their modern-day brand, positioning the company as a forward-thinking and dynamic business and reinforcing their prominent presence within the automotive industry. Every touchpoint speaks of quality, from the boardroom banquette which is reminiscent of a classic car, inspired the look and feel of the car seats, to the considered technology that incorporates seamlessly with the space.

  • Tech-led solutions

The office’s various technology solutions enable Auto Trader deliver impactful media productions, with the capacity to host podcasts and even produce films within their own workspace. To support these activities, we implemented acoustic materials in all phone booths and meeting rooms, suspending panels above booths and banquettes. Additionally, curtains were added in key areas for individual control, privacy, and sound absorption.

  • Unique installations

A curved digital display serves as a backdrop for presentations, while a unique art installation made from model cars serves as a gravitational focal point within the office. The 120 staff-voted models tell a story of car history and reflect the culture of Auto Trader’s long-standing influence in the industry.

  • Providing choice

The employee experience is equally as important as the visitors’. Personal lockers and dry racks for cyclists increase the convenience of working from the office and support employee wellbeing. The open teapoint prompts conversation and relaxation, while showcasing Auto Trader’s collaborative culture to visitors. The choice within their office encourages employees to tailor their work environment to their needs, helping them to maximise productivity.

  • Inclusive workspace

The office offers a variety of workspaces to meet diverse needs. Rather than a formal reception, a welcome workbench serves the initial touchpoint; equipped with three permanent work positions, it provides space for stand-up collaboration.

  • Various sized meeting rooms enable either formal or more relaxed meeting settings for in-person and virtual collaboration, while touchdown furniture provides convenient impromptu meeting areas in the main workspace. The flexible nature of the space further facilitates versatility and adaptability, allowing Auto Trader to optimise their operations and adapt to evolving business needs.
