Reflecting brand and culture
We delivered North Rock Capital’s statement office at 48 Pall Mall in 2020, and two years later, as their business grew, they asked us to expand their offices onto two more floors in the building. The new workspace needed to reflect the North Rock brand and tap into their company culture, with a focus on wellbeing features liked natural light, natural materials, and biophilic elements. We built visibility, clear sightlines and good circulation into the user journey to create an inviting, sociable space that would align with their global standards.

Modern meets traditional
Wanting to showcase the juxtaposition between this dynamic company and such a historic building, we incorporated clean, contemporary features into the design, marrying them with traditional materials like vintage tan leather and velvet to add a touch of glamour. To avoid compromising on their open aesthetic, we ensured that employees had the private space they needed by installing Crittall-style glazing diagonally across the floor plan, elegantly dividing the space.

Space to expand
The expanded office employs the same aesthetic we developed in the original design and retains the light, open plan layout. We installed two small teapoint on each floor to support the larger social hub upstairs, and three additional meeting rooms that cater to virtual collaboration. Due to the nature of the traders’ business, North Rock had an enhanced IT and communications requirement to ensure they could meet privately and securely with their American offices.

Inclusive workspace
This BREEAM-certified building in the heart of London offered us a great platform on which to shape our wellbeing-focused design. Industrial elements fuse with West End class and youthful energy in this eclectic office fit out, with retreat areas focus rooms, and phone booths as well as open plan working areas that collectively offer the North Rock team the work choices they need and evoke the inviting atmosphere they wanted in their space.
