When Ripe began exploring their next workplace, they were at a point of evolution. What started as a plan to expand within their existing building soon became a full relocation – an opportunity to create a home that could better support their growth.
This project focused on shaping an environment that brings people together, supports collaboration and reflects the culture of the business from the moment you arrive.
The brief was to create a workplace that captures the spirit of a modern agency: dynamic, characterful, and highly adaptable.
We balanced this with practical needs by working with existing cellular spaces where possible, while introducing a central breakout area designed to support multiple uses. With bifold doors, this space can shift throughout the day, from a town hall setting to social hub, agile workspace, or event venue, embedding these moments within the workplace rather than relying on external venues.
From arrival, the space makes a confident first impression, with a bold teapoint and integrated digital screens that showcase Ripe’s work and welcome visitors. Beyond this, a range of work settings supports different teams and tasks, creating a natural flow between focused and collaborative environments.
Our approach began with a deep dive into Ripe’s identity: understanding their history, products, and brand personality.
We initially developed a concept tailored to their original building, centred around flexibility and connection. When the decision was made to relocate, we adapted and refined these ideas for the new space, maintaining the core intent while optimising the design for its new context.
This ensured continuity for the client while delivering a workplace that feels intuitive, connected, and aligned with how their teams work today.
The design brings Ripe’s brand to life in a way that feels both engaging and balanced. Bolder elements are introduced at key moments, while softer materials and biophilic features create a more releaxed atmosphere across the wider space.
Alongside this sustainability was approached through intelligent reuse. By retaining and adapting existing cellular offices and reusing selected furniture, we reduced both waste and cost. A minimal-build approach allowed us to achieve maximum impact through design rather than extensive construction.
The new workplace is designed to support a variety of working styles and individual needs.
Full-height glazing brings in natural daylight, while a mix of work settings, including desks, collaboration areas, and quiet pods, give people the flexibility to choose how they work best. A dedicated wellbeing room and varied dining settings further support both social interaction and moments of focus or retreat.
The completed space has elevated how Ripe operates day to day.
By bringing teams together in a more flexible and connected environment, the workplace encourages interaction and creates opportunities for the kind of spontaneous moments that drive creativity. It also supports hybrid working, ensuring the office is a place people enjoy being in and get the most out of their time together.
Designed with future growth in mind, the space provides the flexibility for the business to evolve without quickly outgrowing its environment, creating a workplace that works just as hard as the people using it.
