  • Employee-Centric Workplace for Transact

    London EC2 / Financial, FinTech, Technology / 22,400 sq ft / 16 weeks

  • Bringing people together through a unified workplace experience

With teams previously spread across five separate floors, Transact saw an opportunity to rethink how their people connect and experience the workplace.

The move to a single-floor environment became a catalyst for change, bringing everyone together in a space designed to support hybrid working and create a more cohesive, engaging experience.

By centring the design around shared moments, we transformed a fragmented setup into a unified workplace that feels intuitive, connected, and enjoyable to be part of.

  • Designing for connection from the outset

From the early stages, Transact played an active role in shaping their future workplace. Through in-depth workshops, they shared detailed zoning plans and spatial concepts, giving us a strong foundation to build from.

Our role was to evolve these ideas, testing adjacencies, refining layouts, and challenging how teams could best interact. By exploring alternative planning strategies and look and feel directions collaboratively, we developed a design that balances structure with flexibility and reflects how Transact works day to day.

  • From separation to a shared experience

The workplace is organised into team neighbourhoods, maintaining identity while opening up visibility across the floor.

Hot desking supports their hybrid model, complemented by a variety of settings, from project tables and informal booths to café-style seating along the atrium, giving people choice in how and where they work.

At its centre, a shared breakout space connects all neighbourhoods. Positioned in one of the brightest areas, it acts as the social heart of the office, deliberately designed without integrated technology to encourage people to step away, reset, and interact more naturally.

This focus on wellbeing is reinforced through a dedicated wellness suite, including a relax room, first aid room, and multi-faith space, supporting a range of needs through clearly defined, purposeful environments.

  • Subtle brand expression with moments of energy

A calm, neutral palette creates a professional backdrop, with brand colours introduced in social and informal areas to bring energy and define zones.

Digital signage in reception allows for flexible internal communication, while tonal blue manifestations introduce identity in a subtle, considered way.

A curated artwork programme, developed with Artiq, showcases local London artists, adding character and a sense of evolution, alongside the display of Transact’s industry awards.

  • Flexibility built into every detail

Flexibility runs throughout the workplace. The boardroom has been reimagined as a larger, more adaptable space, capable of hosting multiple configurations, with a darker material palette and acoustic treatments enhancing focus and performance.

Across the floor, a mix of settings supports different working styles, including sit-stand desks, quiet booths, and informal meeting areas. Locker systems also help define zones, introduce privacy, and incorporate planting for a softer, biophilic feel.

  • Sustainability embedded from the start

Sustainability was a key priority, informing decisions from the outset.

Existing furniture was responsibly removed and recycled, ensuring nothing was sent to landfill, while recycling points have been integrated throughout to support ongoing behaviours.

This approach extends beyond finishes, influencing mechanical and electrical design, as well as construction practices, embedding sustainability at every stage.

  • A workplace that transforms everyday experience

Bringing the entire team onto one floor has transformed how people experience the office, replacing disconnected environments with an open, light-filled space where teams can see each other and interact more freely.

The result is a workplace that supports both productivity and wellbeing, strengthening relationships, and creating a stronger sense of belonging.

By focusing on connection, flexibility, and everyday experience, we’ve created a space where people feel motivated, supported, and part of something collective.
