Oktra has been appointed to deliver a comprehensive building refurbishment of the Met Works on Commercial Road in Aldgate. The 133,000 sq ft site is spread over seven floors across two buildings. We have partnered with Trilogy and LaSalle to refurbish the property in collaboration with Quartz and Hawkins Brown who will help to deliver the project and bring it to life.
The Met Works has an interesting history, serving as both a former London Metropolitan University building, which hosted workshops and seminars, as well as being used as a film set for popular productions like Gangs of London and This is Going to Hurt. The building is in a prime location near Whitechapel and Aldgate East and represents an exciting commercial opportunity for future tenants looking to occupy the Met.
Strip out and refurbishment works began in late 2022 with all phases due to complete in June 2023. Due to the scope of works and size of the property, works will be split into seven phases, with the first phase completing in February 2023. The project includes a full refurbishment of the property with floors being delivered as a mix of shell and core, Cat A and Cat B. All windows in the property will be replaced and a new building infrastructure, including six new lifts, will be installed.
This is another landmark project for Oktra which will be another significant project in our portfolio alongside the likes of One Portsoken and 34 Boar Lane.
