We are thrilled to announce that Senior Designer Monika Passey has been awarded ‘Best Woman in Architecture’ in the Women in Construction & Engineering Awards 2021.
Monika Passey is a passionate and ambitious architect, with almost twelve years of UK-based experience in the fields of architecture and interior design. She completed her Bachelors in Architecture at the Chandigarh College of Architecture, before moving to London in 2008 to achieve an MSc in Sustainable Environmental Design at the AA School of Architecture, followed by her Part 3 Architecture ARB/RIBA at The Bartlett School, UCL, in 2016, for which she presented a nuanced and considered observation on the position of the contemporary woman architect.
Throughout this period, Monika began working at Spacelab as an Architectural Assistant, and left as Senior Architectural Designer, during which time her team won the BCO Award for Refurbished/Recycled Workplace of the Year in 2012, and the BD Architect of the Year Award for Interiors Architect of the Year in 2014, before she then went on to work as Lead Workplace Designer & Senior Consultant for Capita P&W Consulting.
As a Senior Designer at Oktra, Monika has worked on some of our most prestigious projects, including the Cat A and B fit out of Photobox Group’s workplace: a project which won the UK Property Award for Best Office Interior in 2019, was a finalist in both the SBID Awards 2019 and Mixology Awards 2019, and was also shortlisted in the FX Awards the same year. Currently, Monika is the Lead Designer on the One Portsoken Street refurbishment, managing a range of different consultants on the largest design and build project in UK history. Under Monika’s lead, our teams have totally transformed the space, infilling the atrium to increase the square footage from 190,000 to 230,000 without building any additional floors, and reactivating the previously empty ground floor with new hospitality and retail spaces.
