We were appointed to carry out a 13,000 sq ft fit out for railway system supplier, Hitachi Rail Europe. Having outgrown their previous office space, Hitachi Rail were looking to establish a new headquarters in London to accommodate their growing organisation and commercial aspirations. In-keeping with the client’s vision and values, the new space had to to inspire not only their employees, but also their suppliers, clients and stakeholders.
Hitachi Rail wanted their new headquarters to be both corporate and fun, incorporating various Japanese nuances throughout that referenced their origins. Our team worked to understand the culture and goals of the business, and worked collaboratively with the client’s team to create a forward-thinking commercial office to help boost morale and encourage productivity. We designed a practical and engaging workspace that caters to employees’ specific needs: supporting them in their development of original technology and products that deliver innovative solutions to challenges faced by the rail industry.
The final space features an open plan office environment with a striking front of house, teapoint and a large agile working area with several private meeting rooms. By providing more opportunities for social interaction, we have opened up lines of communication between departments and created an office where employees can thrive. Hitachi Rail’s new headquarters reflect their brand and heritage, and provides a versatile and flexible working environment that can adapt to the changing needs of their business.
