Gymshark’s reputation as a leading sports clothing brand has grown exponentially in the past year and it was time for them to break through into the Asian market. Having previously completed Gymshark’s state-of-the-art headquarters in England, we were asked to design their new headquarters in Hong Kong.
We aided Gymshark in their search and selection of a fit out partner in the city and partnered with Space Matrix, Asia’s leading workspace design and build firm. We held weekly video conferences to facilitate the design direction and created examples of our design concept through a 3D model in SketchUp and used a full VR headset animation to provide Gymshark and Space Matrix with detailed design examples.
Throughout the build our team kept constant contact via phone with Space Matrix and continued weekly video conferences to receive regular reports. Through steady communication we were able to monitor the progress of the project and deliver design direction throughout. This enabled our team to coordinate the project overseas with complete clarity and ease.
Brand consistency is important to Gymshark – we embedded key elements of the UK headquarters into the design to ensure the space looked and felt like Gymshark. The workspace is mostly open plan with a large agile area with focused desk space for 40 people overlooking Hong Kong’s cityscape. There are three sizable meeting rooms with one as an exact replicant of the main product design room in the UK headquarters. With its uniquely large agile area, this office rejects the Hong Kongese tradition of space conservation using tightly packed desks. Through this spacious and open office Gymshark have established their presence in Asia and are sure to attract the best local talent.
